About Gorham, Maine

Gorham is one of many small towns located just outside of Portland, Maine. Throughout its history, it has been known for its work ethic and strong sense of community. It even has a museum called The Museum Of Work And Culture that showcases various artifacts from the region’s industrial past. With four colleges (Maine College of Art, USM-Gorham Campus, Colby College, Curry College) situated within walking distance from one another and dotted with art galleries and locally owned coffee shops all around town – there are plenty of intellectual opportunities for locals or visitors alike to engage in conversation over some java! Nestled near Sebago Lake, Gorham also features scenic trails for long walks or hikes and even adventure pursuits like kayaking or canoeing on the river.

Southern Maine is home to many places of natural beauty. Among these hidden treasures are the Gorham campus grounds where you can listen to live performances or visit the Art Gallery among other things.  Afterwards you can visit Babb’s Covered Bridge- built in 1864 but still considered one of Maine’s oldest bridges today- located between two serene towns called Gorham and Windham.

Gorham has many charming and historic villages. One of these towns is the beautiful North Street Historic District where you will find many restaurants, shops, and homes dating back to the 1800s. This area was added to the National Register of Historic Places because it pays homage to its hometown hero – James Phinney Baxter – who became mayor of Portland after starting his business in Gorham. If you’re looking for a way to travel back in time this summer, visit The Baxter House Museum where they display famous artifacts that capture what life was like in Maine during those days!

Voted second best town to live in Maine, Gorham is a quaint small town with plenty of historical architecture and lots of culture. It is a great place to settle in Maine!
